Frieda Austin discovered her love of dance at the age of 8 when she began training at Gayle Corkery School of Ballet in Fort Worth. During high school, she had the honor of performing with Bruce Wood Dance Company and Festival Ballet of North Central Texas. After graduation, she had the privilege of training with gifted teaching artist Yoko Ichino at Ballet Met in Columbus,OH. In recent years, she has explored her theatrical side through performances with Hip Pocket Theatre and Artes de la Rosa in Fort Worth. Her favorite performance disciplines include contemporary ballet, tango, and aerial silks.

Committed to making connections through movement, she has shared her passion for learning and performance with students in the metroplex since 2008. She previously taught dance at Gayle Corkery School of Ballet in Fort Worth, Creative Arts Theatre & School in Arlington and Casa Mañana in Fort Worth. Currently she is teaching aerial silks at Innovative Dance in Arlington. In 2014, she helped found FurtherDance Fort Worth, an organization dedicated to bringing dancers together to foster community, professional development and support within the Fort Worth dance landscape.
